At the risk of sounding like a complete damsel, I've been wondering...Is it too much to ask for a man to just fight for you? I can't help feel a bit cheated, having been exposed at an impressionable age to films like Robin Hood, Pride and Prejudice, and The Notebook, which instill into young girls such false expectations of love that no man will ever be good enough. Are there any Mr Darcys or Noah Calhouns out there? Or do they really only exist in films and power ballads?
As depressing as this is, ladies, I am starting to think that 'he' really isn't out there. I just don't think that men know how important it is for a woman to feel irreplaceable; to feel like someone's life would be incomplete without them. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing "Ok. If that's what you want", when all you want to hear is "No. I love you, and I'm not letting you go." And for me, it's a deal breaker.
But if men really don't know this (or they do, but don't want to damage their delicate egos) does that mean that I should stop expecting? Is it sensible to end a relationship that is not 100% perfect, solely because there might be someone else out there who will turn up at your door and tell you that you're fantastic and breathtaking (and all the other things we emotional women love to hear) and will do anything to keep you in his life?
I know I might never find it, but I refuse to give up on romance that easily.

tube. No, let me re-phrase that – being hungover on the tube in rush hour.
The first...
